The Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is the Metropolis of Hydra, a very beautiful Church, which was originally a Monastery. The Catholic Church is a three-aisled vaulted Basilica with a dome and its aisles are separated by colonnades. Inside the Church, the decoration is amazing and the candelabra together with the wonderful chandeliers, the remarkable icons and the amazingly artistic iconostasis, made of pure white marble, add a special glamor to it. Historical place, where the provosts and captains met during the Revolution of 1821.
The Cathedral of the Assumption of the Virgin Church is located in the center of the port and forms the Metropolis of Hydra.
The inauguration of the Temple took place before the 17th century in the name of St. Charalambous and its transformation took place at the beginning of the 17th century.
